by Rebecca G. — Delta 9 PA Greenburg

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a condition that causes deterioration of motor neurons directly responsible for muscle control. As the disease progresses, someone living with ALS will gradually lose the ability to eat, sleep, move, and even breathe. The most common form of ALS is sporadic and scientists are unsure of what causes it. It can also be the result of an inherited genetic mutation. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is one of the 23 qualifying conditions for the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana program and can provide benefits for patients living with ALS.
