What is Cancer?
Cancer refers to a number of diseases where abnormal cells divide uncontrollably. These cells infiltrate and destroy normal body tissue. They have the ability to spread throughout the body. Cancer is the second-leading cause of death in the world but survival rates are improving for many forms of the disease.
How can medical marijuana help manage cancer/chemotherapy symptoms?
Although medical marijuana is not a cure for cancer, it can be helpful in managing symptoms and the effects of chemotherapy.
Pain. Medical Marijuana may be helpful for the management of cancer-related pain. THC and CBD have nociceptive and inflammatory properties that eases neuropathy.
Appetite and weight loss. THC stimulates appetite which helps to slow down cachexia and weight loss in patients with advanced cancer. It also helps to reduce nausea and vomiting.
