Kicking It With KIC! - Will

Will is a KIC OG, who started at our Greensburg dispensary and is currently our Lawrenceville manager. He has an eclectic resume which includes being an EMT and a zoo keeper for a decade! Will is beloved by patients for his kind demeanor, compassion, and knowledge. When he’s not being an awesome husband and father, you can catch him keeping the Larryville ship afloat with Steph. Learn more about him below!

1) What sparked your interest in this industry?

I was always attracted to the idea that very real medicine exists without human interference. We often hear about medications that are derived from this or that, but with medical marijuana we have the opportunity to cut out the middleman and utilize this medicine in its truest, natural state.

2) What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Helping patients find success and watching them grow in the MMJ program. Everyone that works at Delta 9 has their own success stories. We so often get to work with patients over extended periods of time and not only do we get invested in them as patients, but as people too. The relationships that we get to build with patients feel like they extend far beyond the walls of our buildings.

3) What does Delta 9 PA mean to you?

Patient care above all else. We don't care if our PCC's see 1 patient or 100, as long as the people they worked with feel like they left with the right medicine and knowledge to find success. We joke about having that "Cheers" mentality, when a patient comes in here, we want it to feel like home. There's something special about that type of environment when someone walks in and the whole building lights up, this industry should always foster a sense of community. I'm thankful that we have the teams we have; I can see it every day how important patient care is to every Delta 9 employee and that's what this industry is about.

4) As a PA MMJ patient, what are your favorite strains and forms? Why?

My favorite form is flower and I tend to lean towards heavy indica strains like Afghani and Gorilla Glue. I generally look for strains with strong body effects, often it's almost like a weighted blanket sensation that's great for relaxing and unwinding at the end of the day. Special shout-out to Agri-Kind right now, Lime Breath has quickly become one of my favorite strains and I hope you all get to see it on our menus again soon!

5) If you could create your own strain, what would it be?

Probably something with a really great, anti-anxiety effect like Coal Creek Kush/Banana Kush crossed with a heavier indica like Afghani that gives a heavy, euphoric body and enlightened mind.

6) What do you hope to see in the industry as it progresses in Pennsylvania?

I would like to see more forms become available, especially water-soluble products and other edible forms that make things even just a little more accessible to patients. I would also love to see more grower/processors venture into isolating other cannabinoids, like CBG and CBN, so we can more readily take advantage of their own specific properties and benefits.

7) Is there more you'd like to learn about cannabis?

Always! I learn something new every day and love being able to incorporate new information into my patient consultations. We are lucky to have a lot of great minds on our team with lots of experience and knowledge to help us guide both our patients and staff.

8) What is one thing you want to help patients understand about medical marijuana or the program?

Be patient! Don't get discouraged if things aren't exactly perfect right out of the gate, or really at any point of your journey. Everyone is different and it isn't easy to give a blanket statement of "This fixes this" and guarantee success. It's extremely important to document what you've tried, how it affected you, and any variable you can think of. This helps us as PCCs to find you the right medicine.

Also, remember that for many people, marijuana by itself is not the complete fix. For patients like myself, medicating is an opportunity to break down some of the walls I need to work towards a healthier state. Don't medicate and quit, use that time to be an active part of your own wellbeing.
