Kicking It With KIC! - Shawn

Although he started his cannabis career with us in October, Shawn has quickly become a favorite among our patients. His kind demeanor and willingness to share his knowledge has made him very memorable. Even as a cannafamily, we all look forward to Shawn’s reviews of any new dry leaf he tries. Continue reading to learn more about Shawn and be sure to chat it up with him the next time he’s your PCC!

1) What sparked your interest in this industry?

Being in chronic pain myself, I realized how much marijuana helps to reduce or get off pharmaceutical medication and provides a better quality of life with fewer side effects.

2) What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Getting to share my knowledge of marijuana’s medical benefits with patients and hearing their positive results is extremely gratifying.

3) What does KIC mean to you?

KIC means a safe, judgment free dispensary where patients can openly express any ailments or concerns with our PCCs and we can work with you in your journey to finding relied with this program.

4) As a PA MMJ patient, what are your favorite strains and forms? Why?

Some of my favorite strains as a patient in PA would be Crippy, which is an OG Kush variant, and GG#4 for their pain and anxiety relieving properties that are often associated with chronic pain.

5) If you could create your own strain, what would it be?

The strain I would create has most likely been created already, but it’s be called Purple Gas – a cross between Purple Urkle and OG Kush.

(According to the internet, Urkle OG is indeed a thing. Urkel OG is an indica-dominant hybrid that can help patients treat chronic pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, and mood swings. It’s somewhere out there for ya, Shawn!)

6) What do you hope to see in the industry as it progresses in Pennsylvania?

I hope to see a couple things change in the industry as it progresses. One being able to legally grow our own medicine, and two being able to legally smoke the dry leaf in the privacy of our own homes.

7) Is there more you'd like to learn about cannabis?

Yes, when it comes to learning about cannabis it seems to be never ending. We are always finding new cannabinoids and I look forward to becoming further educated as the industry progresses.

8) What is one thing you want to help patients understand about medical marijuana or the program?

I would definitely like to help patients understand not to get discouraged when finding the right strain or form of administration because each person is so unique, not everything effects everyone the same. There are such wide varieties of cannabis and vastly different effects between them. Relief is out there but I can certainly take time to find what works.
